A Remarkable Life That Began Behind a Pulpit
Marjoe Gortner lived a life that few could have imagined.
Long before Hollywood, before television roles and movie appearances, he was a child standing before crowds, preaching to adults who believed they were witnessing a genuine religious calling.
He was only four years old when his parents introduced him to the revival circuit.
By adulthood, however, Gortner would tell a very different story about those early years—and eventually make that story the subject of an extraordinary documentary.
Gortner died October 2 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the age of 82, according to Variety, which cited his family. His death was attributed to complications related to congestive heart failure.
