I CAME HOME TO FIND MY DAUGHTER AND BABYSITTER MISSING—HER AIRTAG SHOWED SHE WAS AT THE AIRPORT.

What was supposed to be a simple babysitting job turned into my worst nightmare when I came home and discovered that my daughter and the babysitter were missing. When I found out who was involved and why, my rage exploded!

The Start of the Nightmare

My ex-husband, Daniel, and I divorced two years ago. His mother, Brenda, never liked me, but after the divorce, she suddenly started acting more caring.

That week, before that fateful Friday, my daughter, Lily, caught a cold.

I had no other choice—her daycare didn’t accept sick kids, and I refused to ask Daniel or Brenda for help.

So, I trusted Jessica, Lily’s longtime babysitter, to take care of her.

Jessica was responsible and reliable, so I had no reason to worry.

That Friday, I was looking forward to seeing Lily and even brought home some warm soup for her.

But as soon as I stepped inside, I knew something was wrong.

The Disappearance

The house was silent. Too silent.

My stomach dropped.

—Lily? —I called. —Jessica?

No answer.

I quickly checked the living room, the kitchen, Lily’s bedroom… empty.

I grabbed my phone and called Jessica. Nothing.

I tried again. Voicemail.

And then I noticed something even worseLily’s favorite pink backpack was missing. The one she never left the house without.

And that’s when I remembered.

The AirTag!

The Shocking Location

Months ago, I had hidden a tracking device inside Lily’s backpack.

With trembling hands, I opened the app.

The location popped up.

THE AIRPORT.

My blood ran cold.

I grabbed my keys and rushed to my car, refreshing the location nonstop.

Still at the airport.

Still at the airport.

Was this a kidnapping?

The Confrontation at the Airport

As soon as I arrived, I ran inside, frantically scanning the crowd.

And then, I saw it.

The pink backpack.

Jessica. Lily.

But they WEREN’T ALONE.

Daniel and Brenda were with them.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! —I shouted.

Brenda turned to me with a fake smile, acting like nothing was wrong.

—Oh, Charlotte, there’s no need to make a scene, dear.

Then, I heard a small sob.

—Mommy!

Lily ran to me, clinging to my jacket tightly.

—They said we were going to the beach…

The Truth Comes Out

The beach?

I knelt and looked her in the eyes.

—Who told you that, sweetheart?

She pointed straight at Brenda.

My fury boiled over.

You were taking her out of the state?! Without telling me?!

Brenda sighed, acting annoyed.

—Charlotte, don’t be so dramatic…

Daniel cut in, his voice cold and dismissive:

—We were taking Lily for treatment. You’re overreacting.

My heartbeat pounded in my ears.

Treatment?! She has a cold!

Brenda waved her hand dismissively.

—The sun and ocean air will cure her in no time. We already booked the resort for two weeks.

Jessica Learns the Truth

Jessica gasped in shock.

What?! You told me Charlotte knew everything! You said she was meeting us here!

I turned to Daniel, rage burning in my eyes.

Did you really think you could just take her?!

Daniel sighed, rubbing his temples.

—We thought she’d be better off with us for a while.

I clenched my fists.

THIS IS KIDNAPPING!

The Final Confrontation

Brenda’s fake smile disappeared instantly.

—Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Charlotte. This was just a misunderstanding…

I let out a cold, humorless laugh.

A misunderstanding?! You lied to the babysitter, packed up my daughter’s things, and bought plane tickets. What do you think this is?!

Jessica stepped back, horrified.

—You tricked me into thinking Charlotte knew about this…

Brenda tried one last time.

—Charlotte, darling, don’t make rash decisions. We were only trying to help Lily

My voice came out sharp as a knife.

—If you ever ‘help’ like this again… you will never see Lily again.

Brenda’s mouth fell open, but Daniel grabbed her arm, realizing they had gone too far.

Jessica followed me, apologizing repeatedly.

—They told me you knew… I truly thought everything was fine… I’m so sorry, Charlotte!

I took a deep breath, still holding Lily close.

—Why didn’t you answer my calls?

Jessica fumbled in her bag and pulled out her phone.

It was on silent… I really thought you knew. When we arrived, Daniel and Brenda were already waiting, so I went straight to them… But I should have known better.

Lily waved hesitantly at Jessica, still confused.

Jessica lowered her gaze, ashamed.

I don’t know if I can trust you again, Jessica… but thank you for telling me the truth.

She nodded, looking down.

I carried Lily to the car, feeling the weight of everything that had happened.

And I knew this wasn’t over.
