At 65, Jamie Lee Curtis flaunts new shoulder-length gray hair on film set

When you achieve the level of stardom Jamie Lee Curtis has, I think you likely stop giving much of a care as to what people think about the way you dress or choose to do your hair. I mean at this stage there’s very little Curtis hasn’t seen and done in the entertainment industry. A stalwart of the acting scene for multiple decades, she’s built a loyal fan base that’s always keen to stay up to date with her comings and goings.

Perhaps that’s why the 65-year-old received so much attention after trading her signature gray pixie cut for a longer hairstyle earlier this summer. According to reports, the Halloween star was snapped on the set of Freakier Friday, the sequel to the popular film of the 00s in which she starred alongside Lindsay Lohan.

Having stepped out of her trailer during a pause from filming, Curtis flaunted a new look that saw her sporting longer locks, though they remained gray. Freakier Friday is due to premiere in 2025, and sees Curtis reprise her role as Tess Coleman. Speaking to the media last year, the actress admitted that she felt a follow-up to the original Freaky Friday was overdue.

“As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday’ […] When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made,’” the 65-year-old explained.

The plot for the first flick – which was well received by audiences worldwide – focuses on a mother-daughter duo who swap bodies. Thought it’s not yet been officially confirmed if the sequel will follow a similar narrative, it makes sense to assume that there will be plenty of laughs involved.

Curtis is no stranger to testing different hairstyles, as the actress admitted back during a 2021 interview. She said at the time: “I tried to do everything you can do to your hair. Personally, I felt it [was] humiliating. I would go into a hair salon—the smell of the chemicals, the feeling of that color on my hair […] wearing the thing, sitting under the hairdryer—I was like, ‘For what?’”¨

“So very early on in my career, I had a perm and then had to dye my hair for a movie and it burned my hair off my head. And the first time I cut my hair short, I went, ‘Oh! […] Wow, I look like me!’”

Needless to say, there was plenty of feedback offered by fans after pictures of Curtis on the set of Freakier Friday surfaced online. Though the 65-year-old’s long, gray locks are simply the work of a well-fitted wig, internet denizens had a lot to say about Curtis’ appearance, and not all of it was positive.
