And it seems, they really bonded over that and much more because they just announced their engagement to surprised and ecstatic fans.
Jasmin Lawrence and 35-year-old Eric Murphy, have taken a big step in their love story. The couple announced their engaged on November 27, 2024. They shared details about their proposal which seemed like a magical affair.
Jasmin took to Instagram to share her excitement with her fans. She wrote, “11.27.2024 We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny.”
In the video, the scene unfolds with a dreamy setup of what seems like hundreds of flickering candles, white rose petals lining the aisle, and a glowing orange heart at the center. The warm, romantic atmosphere was the background for a proposal the bride-to-be would not forget anytime soon.
The 28-year-old unsuspecting girlfriend stepped into the room and experienced the intimate set up, which was tied together with live guitar music. Jasmin is visibly taken with the set up, beaming from ear to ear.
Shortly after, we see the couple walk hand-in-hand down an aisle covered in white rose petals as they make their way toward the centerpiece, the glowing orange heart.
Once in front, Eric bends down on one knee and pops the question to Jasmin while presenting her with a ring still in the box. The moment captures the love the two of them share.
After Jasmin says ‘yes,’ the couple share a sweet kid against the romantic backdrop. As Jasmin rests her hand on her fiancé’s chest, a close-up shows us the intricate details in her engagement ring.

The couple have been dating for over three years and have openly shared their relationship and love for one another on social media. Eric made their relationship public in 2021 when he posted a photo of the two of them.
Their love story began with a family connection. And while you might be expecting their dads to introduce them, this was not the case. In an interview in 2022, Jasmin revealed who made the introduction. She said, “My uncle actually introduced us—it wasn’t even our dads.”

While Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence remain good friends and share a long history together, their children developed their own relationship independently. “We became really good friends, we bonded on a lot of things,” Jasmin shared of her relationship with Eric.
She described him as her best friend, saying, “It sounds cliche, like, you know, you should be best friends, but it’s so true. We just love each other’s company. We laugh together—a lot of laughing.”
She shared how their backgrounds being similar allows them to have an implicit understanding. “There are certain things that I don’t have to explain, he just gets it, and he knows and it’s you know, it’s all good,” she shared.

Jimmy Kimmel asked whether there was hope for a “comedy super baby” between the couple. He added, “Did you talk to Eddie about this?”
Martin laughed and replied, “No, no. We haven’t talked about it; we haven’t. We kind of just stay out of their business, let them do their own thing, and respect their thing.”
Kimmel then jokingly suggested that Murphy should pay for the wedding, and the 59-year-old ‘Bad Boys’ star said, “I’m gonna try to get out of here.”
