Dad Gets Emotional Upon Receiving A Very Special Gift From His Daughter That ‘Brought Back All The Memories’

Families and friends often gather together to celebrate their love for one another during the Christmas season, according to some.

Aside from a scrumptious feast, families will also exchange gifts. In one gifting tradition, people don’t know who is gifting them anything because lots are drawn within the group. Everyone gets a gift and everyone is equally involved.

In one particular family, the holiday season was no different from any other, but their dad received a very special gift that made him cry.

As a Navy veteran struggling to support his family in 1990, Ted Lawver began the story. His wife and he discussed how hard it was to make a living at the time.

Lawver spoke in an interview with NBC News where it was revealed that he had a prized possession back in the day, a Dan Marino rookie card.

Lawver said, “That was my absolute favorite card.”.

He had no choice but to sell it at a comic store for only $50, even though it was one of his favorite things in life.

Lindsay Moore, his daughter, remembered the day when his father sold the card: “It was a pretty big deal… Selling that so we could have food or pay our bills.”

Moore made a promise to herself that she would retrieve the card to return it to Lawver.

Let’s fast forward to Christmas 2023. Moore thought Secret Santa was the perfect opportunity to give her dad a lifetime gift.

In a video shared on TikTok, Moore’s mom could be seen reading the card that was addressed to Lawver, as he mentioned in the clip that he couldn’t read it.

“I was about 7 or 8 years old when you let Nick and me into the car to go to a comic book store; money was tight, so you were selling one of your most prized possessions. I felt your sacrifice,” the letter reads.

According to Moore’s letter, after her dad sold the card, she was determined to get it back for him later on in life.

A few minutes later, Lawver opened the paper bag and after tearing the wrapping paper and opening an envelope, there it was – the Dan Marino rookie card that he once sold in order to support his family.

Due to the sentimental nature of the item, Lawver couldn’t hold back his tears and later broke down in tears. As a thank you, he hugged Moore.

It just brought back all the memories, it was really overwhelming,” Lawver said in the interview.

Many people shared their reactions to the simple yet emotional gift in the original video’s comment section.

“What an impression he made on his children and what a lesson he taught them about life. Love this so much. ❤️,” one wrote.

“Something about bringing a grown man to tears of joy always gets me ,” another one wrote.
